This 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲, we celebrate the power of collective action. By the end of this planting season, the BES will have planted and nurtured 𝟏.𝟑 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 trees across Bhutan. BES has planted a variety of fruits as well as timber tree species across Bhutan.
In partnership with and upon invitation by the Bhutan Foundation, the BES launched the Million Trees Project in 2021. Since then, over half a million trees have been planted under this landmark initiative.
Inspired by this success, since 2024, @conservationorg has partnered with the BES under the @mountainsmangroves Initiative. Under this initiative close to an additional half a million trees have been planted across Bhutan in partnership with the government, local leaders and communities.
This year, the Bhutan Ecological Society is on track to plant another 𝟒𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 trees.
Plantation activities are ongoing across Samdrup Jongkhar, Pemagatshel, Zhemgang, Thimphu, Paro, Bumthang, and Punakha, with expansion planned for Chukha, Samtse, and Trashigang Dzongkhags.
