Strengthening Bhutan’s Restoration Agenda: MoU Signed to Launch Restore Bhutan

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 28 November 2025 between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Conservation International, the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation, and the Bhutan Ecological Society to accelerate
large-scale nature restoration efforts across Bhutan.

To operationalize this collaboration, the partners also inaugurated the Project Steering Committee (PSC), which will provide strategic guidance and oversight for the programme.

The initiative aims to restore 50,000 hectares of degraded land over the next decade, strengthening Bhutan’s climate resilience, safeguarding biodiversity, and enhancing the wellbeing of the communities.
