Tiger conservation through compassion
To commemorate Global Tiger Day on 29th July, BES in collaboration with Global Tiger Center under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests distributed electric stoves to ex-tiger poachers in Norbugang.
This is part of our Conservation Through Compassion joint initiative, which aims to improve the living standards of the communities at the forefront of the human-wildlife conflict. We believe that giving the ex-poachers an alternative source of livelihood and improving their living standards will incentivize them to stop poaching and live in harmony with wildlife.
The initiative is supported by the GEF- Small Grants Programme, UNDP and RGOB under the big cats conservation programme.
