DIVERSIFYING BHUTAN'S CLEAN-ENERGY FUTURE
Hydropower remains Bhutan's dominant source of electricity and export revenue, but changing river flows and seasonal winter shortages create vulnerability. The country also continues to import fossil fuels for transport and other energy needs.
BES works with government, partners, and communities to demonstrate and scale renewable alternatives. Community energy banks and appropriate local technologies can reduce risk while extending clean power to the last communities.
