OUR BOARD

Dasho Paljor J. Dorji is the founding President of the Bhutan Ecological Society and has served Bhutan since joining government service in 1966.

He was instrumental in establishing the Royal Society for Protection of Nature in 1987 and the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation. His sustained leadership in environmental policy was recognized with the Jigme Singye Wangchuck Outstanding Environmental Stewardship Award in 2010.

Dasho Nidup Dorji began his career as a lecturer at Sherubtse College in 1991, later serving as Head of Department and Assistant Principal.

His leadership roles have included Director of the College of Science and Technology, Chief Executive Officer of Bhutan Telecom, and Vice-Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan. He brings extensive experience in education, technology, and institutional governance to the Board.

Dr. Tashi Samdrup serves as Director General of the Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority.

Since beginning his civil service career in April 1991, he has built broad experience in agriculture, food systems, regulation, and public administration. He contributes this technical and institutional perspective to the Society’s governance.

Kesang Choden Dorji serves as the Dzongda of Bumthang and has worked in Bhutan’s civil service since 1990.

Her career with the Royal Civil Service Commission and in local government provides the Board with extensive experience in public administration, community priorities, and institutional leadership.

Phento Tshering serves as a Director with Bhutan’s National Environment Commission and has worked in the civil service for more than two decades.

His experience in environmental policy, coordination, and public administration supports the Board’s oversight of the Society’s conservation and sustainability work.
