BES and GNY Sign MoU to Advance Ecological Development and Sustainability

The Bhutan Ecological Society (BES) and Gerab Nyed-yon Limited (GNY) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 15 September 2025 to work together on ecological development, sustainable resource use, and long-term partnerships that benefit both people and the environment.

The MoU, signed by the Executive Director of BES and the Chief Executive Officer of GNY, outlines three key areas of collaboration:

  • Development of a concept plan for an ecological park on GNY’s 26-acre land in Phuentsholing.
  • Joint exploration of ecological and conservation projects in Samdrup Jongkhar, focusing on land owned by GNY.
  • Exploration of opportunities in carbon trading, biogas production, and other future ecological partnerships.

Both organizations highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing Bhutan’s environmental challenges while creating spaces and opportunities that contribute to community well-being.

This partnership reflects a shared vision to combine expertise and resources for projects that strengthen Bhutan’s ecological resilience and support the country’s broader sustainable development goals.
