SFS Spring Semester Ends

The Spring Semester of the School for Field Studies (SFS)-Bhutan Program concluded successfully on Thursday, May 8th. This three-and-a-half-month semester, on Himalayan Environment and Society in Transition was attended by 26 students from various colleges and universities across the United States. SFS is an international, non-profit organization that offers transformative study abroad experiences through immersive, field-based learning and research. The semester program in Bhutan focuses on mountain ecology, land use, natural resources, conservation, and the socio-economic and political aspects of the environment. As part of the program, students conduct both social and biophysical research projects related to environmental and biodiversity issues, engaging directly with local communities, and government officials to gain firsthand insights. The SFS program in Bhutan is jointly hosted by the Royal University of Bhutan, the Bhutan Ecological Society, and the SFS head office based in the US.
