The documentary “Artifishal” screened in Thimphu
The Bhutan Ecological Society in collaboration with the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) and the financial support from the Bhutan Foundation screened a documentary entitled “Artifishal” on 20th September in Thimphu. The film, directed by Josh “Bones” Murphy and produced by Yvon Chouinard, scrutinizes the pernicious impinge of hatcheries and fish farms. The film also highlights “people, rivers, and the fight for the future of wild fish and the environment that supports them. It explores wild salmon’s slide toward extinction, threats posed by fish hatcheries and fish farms, and our continued loss of faith in nature”. Additionally, the documentary portrays the predicament of wild fish ascribed to the establishment of hatcheries and fish farms and insights on the current situation of hatcheries in the US and European countries.
The screening was witnessed by over fifty individuals from various government agencies, Civil Society Organizations and international volunteers working in Bhutan.
